After the ridiculous heatwave of the summer died away, we were able to enjoy some lovely fall weather. One day we decided to walk upstream along the Birs to see what we could see.
The answer was a lot of graffiti, most of it FC Basel-themed. As someone with very little artistic ability and a deep fear of getting in trouble, graffiti is very intriguing to me and I love taking pictures of it.

This is under the bridge we walk over almost every day to catch the bus into town. Also note that if you’re in/around Basel and see something that’s red and blue (Rotblau), then it’s almost certainly FC Basel-related.

Under the same bridge on the other side of the river.

Basel.
One thing I have to say about Basel is that these people are so freaking proud of their city. The Basel symbol is everywhere. The equivalent in Peoria would be if all the graffiti artists were painting that primary colored Native American head symbol everywhere, which absolutely does not happen.

This dude’s grinning face shows up in a lot of graffiti, too. He’ll appear again in this post, but I’ve seen him lots in and around the city.

Basilisk.

So meta.

We also found a really freaking large tree.

I find that face to be moderately creepy.

Hello again, sir.
If life every happens to take Andy (and the rest of you) to Brazil, there is a street in Sao Paolo completely FULL of different graffiti designs. Some really amazing work. I’ll tweet some pictures at you.
I look forward to them!
