My main way of dealing with anything stressful is to put it off as long as humanly possible.
It’s how I got through school. It’s how I complete most of my work.
(I actually set artificial deadlines for myself so that I feel like I’m procrastinating without actually putting my job in danger. Life hack, right?)
So what do you do when every single thing in your life is stressful?
Holidays? Stressful. (There are zero wrapped presents under my tree. I wrapped three things yesterday and they all got opened yesterday morning, so I’m back to Square One.)
Moving internationally? Stressful.
Literally all of the prep work that goes into moving internationally? Stressful.
I have nowhere to hide.
Right now, the least stressful option for a productive thing to do is balance my checkbook. In what world does that actually make sense?
So, obviously, I’m planning massive amounts of baking in the next couple of days.
I don’t have anything official to bake for, mind you. I would just rather coat my kitchen in a fine layer of flour and sugar than sort, pack, clean, or wrap.
I’ll be kicking myself for this decision on Christmas Eve, and again on January 10th, when I have nothing to distract me from everything that needs to be done before we leave the country.
But for now? Let there be cupcakes, and snickerdoodles, and baked oatmeal, and waffles, and and and…
Oh, I hear you!!! Packing is the worst! Bring on the baking supplies 🙂
How did you manage, did you pull an all nighter?
There were so many all nighters!
